From the Karluk to the Karakhanid Dynasty

The Karluk was an alliance composed of three tribes who were ruled by four military adminis-trations in the Tang Dynasty. From 766 onwards, the Karluk became a close neighbor to the Islamic world, and an important force in Central Asia. In 840, on the Mongolia plateau, the Ogur Khanate perished, and its people scattered around. One branch fled to take refuge in the Karluk area. The Karakhanid Khanate was the Khan post when the Karluk rulers accepted the Ashina Khan family of the Ogur Khanate. There are three documents on the war the Samanid Dynasty waged on the Western Karakhanid Khanate in 893 in Islamic history books. They can complement each other. In addition, the three reports have important information that the Karakhanid Khanate and the Karluk are of the same tribe.
