On Characteristics of Modern Patriotism of China

After 1840,in the modern history of China,the invasion of capital imperialism mingled with the revolt of the Chinese people,the decline and the disintegration of the traditional society intertwined with the transform of modernity.The patriotism of the Chinese people,which had a long historical tradition,selected the cream in the course of anti invasion,learning from the West and heading for the modernization.It added new contents,including advocating learning from the west,reforming politics,Opening to the world,upholding democracy and science,etc.It achieved the shift of the times from classical patriotism toward modern patriotism.
