| 摘 要： | 格雷厄姆格林的小说《问题的核心》主人公斯戈比是一个性格十分复杂的悲剧人物 ,他具有强烈的怜悯之心和帮助别人的愿望 ,然而这却成了导致他自己毁灭的致命弱点。从社会、心理和宗教三方面分析了斯戈比的悲剧产生的原因。

| Abstract: | The protagonist of The Heart of the Matter by Graham Greene, Scobie, is a tragic character of complicated personalities. He has an excess of pity and a strong desire to do good for others, which paradoxically becomes his fatal flaw that causes his downfall. The purpose of this paper is to analyze Scobie's excessive sense of pity in respect to his social environment, psychological state and religious faith. |
