卡莱尔《拼凑的裁缝》的主旨

卡莱尔的《拼凑的裁缝》虽然是作者的思想自传,但作品并不是作者“我”的自述,而是通过杜撰的人物———一位德国哲学教授之口和其他貌似客观的叙述表达出来。卡莱尔的思想有几个部分:对贵族的批判;唯心主义世界观;新教道德;政治上的乌托邦。作品最后解释了作者为什么借别人之口,而且通过貌似客观的叙述表达自己思想的原因。

On the Gist of Sator Resartus by T. Carlyle

It is argued that Sartor Resartus can be regarded as the autobiography of the writer's thoughts,however,not through the statements of himself but by the mouth of a fictitious figure,i.e.a German philosopher Teufelsdr?ckh and other means.Carlyle's thoughts include the criticism on aristocracy,idealism,Protestant morals and Utopian political thinking.This paper is concluded with the explanation of the reason why the book was written in disguise of a fictitious person and envi ronments.
