The studies on Ma Xulun's changes of academic interest in his early years are comparatively weak,since it involves a complex background.Superficially,Ma Xulun's research fields are diverse;however,it can be observed that there is an internal clue of the change in his academic interest.The process of change in his research focus from historical studies,classical studies to philological studies could be seen through.In the earlier period he was affected by Chen Fuchen most,and most influenced by Zhang Taiyan in the later period.This change reflects the diversity of academic transformation in modern China.Although Ma's research orientation is not the mainstream of modern China academic development,it shows quite a important and typical sample from another perspective.
