Critical Study of Gricean Pragmatic Theory:On the inadequacies of the Theory of Conversational Implicature

Since the very day it was proposed,the theory of Cooperative Principle and Conversational Implicature has attracted the attention of researchers from logic,philosophy,as well as linguistics.Till now,it is still one of the hot topics many scholars discuss.Despite its popularity,Grice's theory has its own inadequacies concerning its two basic aspects: the definition of conversational implicatures and the three necessary conditions of the generation of conversational implicatures.
