翻译实践中的科技术语定名研究

术语是科技文献信息的主要载体,在科技发展中起着特殊的作用。大量同义术语的出现为科技交流带来很大不便,影响合作与交流的进程。遵守不同的原则定名术语是产生同义术语的主要原因。术语的定名原则在翻译实践中具有重要的指导意义。我国在术语定名上一直采取“意译为主”的定名原则,但就目前和长远来看这一原则有待探讨,因为对以往和现存术语的状况分析表明,借助于音定名术语已表现出明显的发展趋势。

A Study of the Translation of Technical Terminologies

Technical terms are the main carrier of information in science and technology,and thus play a special role in the development of science and technology.A lot of synonym terms hinder the interflow of science and technology,and affect the progress of cooperation and exchange.Naming by different principles is the main reason for the coexistence of synonymous terms.Therefore,naming principles have a guiding function in translation practice.In China,free translation has traditionally been the main method of naming, but it leaves much for inquiry.An analysis of the present and past naming terms has shown that transliteration has an obvious advantage as a naming principle.
