Hermit together with its seclusion culture is a very special kind of culture in China.It arose in the brewing and shaping period of feudal society.Taoism emerged and developed from the nutrition of seclusion culture.However,because of its long history,there are abundant historical materials and legends about seclusion culture,which makes it seem vague,contradictory and mysterious.If we adopt developmental viewpoint to explore the source of the vagueness and contradiction of seclusion culture,we will find that it does not stand still and that it has undergone a rather complicated process of evolution.
