In the 1980s, under the influence of Western cultural trend and Western theatre, Chinese avant-garde drama sought its＇ national characters as well. As a result of Chinese specific national conditions at the time, ＂man＂ is the starting point of Chinese avant-garde drama. The drama devoted to explore human nature and present anxious survival conditions of ordinary people and versatilities of people＇s spiritual world. From the ＂man＂, alienation, psychology, social criticism of the four starting points, Chinese avant-garde drama formed distinct features of thematic treatment in the ideological level.
