| Abstract: | Cao Yu had devoted his life-long energy to the studies of modernist Western drama, but his drama, either in its characterization or in its artistry, displayed certain features of our nation's style of spiritual life, cultural psychological structure as well as aesthetic consciousness. Therefore, Cao's drama was not only a blend of Chinese and Western dramatic arts, but also a kind of cultural transcendence. |
