| 摘 要： | 语言和文化是紧密相连、不可分割的,作为语言精华的成语更是沉积了浓厚的历史和民族文化。因此英汉成语翻译常会遇到许多困难。文章主要从地理环境、历史背景、风俗习惯和宗教信仰四个方面阐述了中英两国文化差异对各自成语形成的影响,并详细说明了英汉成语互译中处理这种文化差异的几种常用译法。

| Abstract: | Language and culture are closely interrelated with each other and cannot be separated. Idioms, as the essence of language, deposit rich historical and national culture which brings about great difficulty in translation of idioms. This paper expounds the influence of Chinese and English culture upon their languages respectively from the following four aspects: geographical conditions, historical background, social customs and religious belief. After that, the article makes a detailed illustration on some commonly used ways of handling the cultural difference in translation of idioms. |
