中国古代赋税与人口增长

我国自秦汉以来的各个朝代几乎都是在大战乱、大灾荒、大瘟疫导致的人口大量减少的情况下建立的,因此,各代之初增殖人口成为发展生产、巩固统治的重要一环。促进人口再生产的因素很多,其中很重要的一条就是利用减免赋税尤其是人头税去奖励人口增殖,推动人口发展。

Taxation in Ancient China and Population Increase

Dynasty establishment in feudal society in China had often resulted in chaos caused by wars,disasters,pestilences and sharp decrease in population since Qin-Han Period.So at the beginning of most dynasties,rulers made efforts to encourage population reproduction in order to strengthen their rulings.Cutting down taxation,especially exempting people from poll tax became the most effective measures to increase the breeding rate quickly.
