我最近的长篇历史小说《湖南骡子》，缘于2002年清明节我去衡阳焚我那年写的一部反映常德会战和衡阳保卫战的长篇小说《抵抗者》时的所见所感，小说中的人物原型不少是我童年和少年时候接触过的抗战老兵。在收集素材和写作《湖南骡子》的过程中，我重新认识了湖南人，小说刻意表现了湖南人那种骡子般坚韧、倔强、不怕死的集体性格。

Casual Creative Impulses

My recent historical novel of Hunan Mule, which due to the 2002 Qingming festival in Hengyang when I burned my writing novel of Resisters which reflected the Battle of Changde and Hengyang, its archetypes are the war veterans during my childhood and youth. In the process of collecting material and writing of Hunan Mule, I have new understanding of Hunan person, who showed collective character of mule-like tenacity, stubborn, not afraid of death.
