礼貌原则及其在跨文化交际下的语用失误

为了避免言语误解,保证交际的成功,人们通常遵循礼貌原则。英国语言学家利奇（Leech）在研究礼貌现象的基础上提出的＂礼貌原则＂在言语交际中起着重要作用。尤其在跨文化交际中,由于历史、文化、风俗、宗教信仰等诸多方面的差异,加之对礼貌原则的不同理解和诠释,来自不同国度的人们就会遇到交际障碍和误解,形成语用失误。为了促进跨文化交际能力的提高,本文对＂礼貌原则＂的各项准则进行了研究,同时分析了其在跨文化交际中可能产生的语用失误。

Politeness Principle and Pragmatic Failures in Cross-Cultural Communication

To avoid language misunderstanding and ensure smooth communication,people should comply with politeness principle.Politeness principle,proposed by British linguist Leech on the basis of the research of politeness phenomena,plays an important role in communication.Especially in cross-cultural communication,due to differences in history,culture,custom,religion and belief,as well as various understanding and focus of politeness principle,people from different countries encounter communication barrier and misunderstanding,and pragmatic failure is formed.In order to enhance cross-cultural communication,this paper studies the pragmatic usage of each maxim in politeness principle and analyses the possible pragmatic failures in cross-cultural communication.
