| Abstract: | It is worthy of notice that, in Chinese determinative-phonetic characters, the meaningsthereof are brought out by their phonetic complements. This paper argues that it is the sources thereof thatare brought out by their phonetic complements, then goes on to expound the definition of the sourceindicating function of the phontic complements, with arguments to support this viewpoint and with thesignificance for its research stated. |
