| Abstract: | Preface to A Collection of Ancient and Modern Japanese Poetry is directly influenced by Preface to the Mao Annotated Book of Poems and Preface to Zhong Rong's Notes on Poetry ; however, it is by no means a duplicate. A contrastive study revels the major differences between Chinese and Japanese: the former tends to convey Confucian teachings and sardonic resentment while the latter tends to express sympathetic sentiments. |
