Conceptual Blending:the Cognitive Process of Language Metaphorization

Metaphor is an important cognitive model, which is the source of the meaning of a new language. Fauconnier regards the foundation of psychological space, mapping and blended mechanism as core issues of research in his conceptual blending theory, which makes up for the insufficiency of Lakoff's conceptual metaphor theory. The four current views on the conceptual blending model are as follows: the tension theory, the controversion theory, the deviance theory and the semantic anomaly theory. Language metaphorization can be realized by way of construction, choice, inference and extension, which makes contributions to filling up the vacancy of vocabulary and thus enhance the precision and visualization of expression.
