An Aesthetic Explanation of Horse Image and the Enmity between a horse and His Owner in Ancient China

In the ancient Chinese cultural background against which the intellecturals felt hard to realize their ideals, the gratitude and resentment between a horse and his owner had the subjective equavelance betwwen an intellectual and his benefactor, so a reference was made that a horse could identify a wise owner. All these deified a horse's ability in distinguishing the loyal and the disloyal. Such a fairy tale gave rise to the saying that a painted horse or one made of jade might come to life. Because of conventional belief and the deeper action of a heroic horse, an excellent horse was by no means loyal to any owner but only the true one. The interaction between a man and a horse is one of the important reasons why horse image is always so lively and active.
