钟会反司马氏考论

魏景元年间，钟会、邓艾率兵分路伐蜀。邓艾灭蜀后不久因钟会等上书被收捕。钟会到成都后起兵反司马氏，但迅速失败。钟会走上反司马氏之路的原因是多方面的：司马昭周围有部分重要人士不信任甚至反对他，他也明白终不能真正得到司马昭信任，且功多之后对司马昭忧惧之心转盛，而其在蜀灭、邓艾被擒后重兵在握时又不甘心再受迫于司马昭。钟会举事若选择其他更适当时机——比如在邓艾入阴平、诸葛绪槛车征还后，即遣人联络姜维而举事——这样成功可能性会大些。

On Zhong Hui's Revolt Against the Sima Family

In the Jing Yuan reign of the Wei Kingdom, Zhong Hui and Deng Ai attacked the Shu Kingdom along separate routes. After he forced Shu Kingdom to surrender, Deng Ai was captured because Zhong Hui presented a secret memorial to Sima Zhao. After Zhong Hui arrived in Chengdu, he revolted against the Sima family. But he failed soon, and the main reason was that he could not ensure the loyalty of the armed forces of Wei because of his hesitation to get rid of Sima Zhao＇s trusted followers who spread rumors to stir up hostility toward him. The reasons why Zhong Hui took the path of revolt against the Sima family were multifold： there were some important people around Sima Zhao who were hostile to Zhong Hui, and he knew he could not win the trust of Sima Zhao. Moreover, he was in great fear after making great contributions by offering and applying strategies for Sima Zhao, and he would not give in to Sima Zhao when he commanded massive forces after the arrest of Deng Ai. If he had chosen a more suitable moment when Deng Ai went down Yinping path and Zhuge Xu was sent back to Luoyang in a prisoner cart, there would have been more chances of success in his revolt against Sima Zhao.
