Kezuo Zhuiyu (Superfluous Words in the Parlour) by Gu Qiyuan has recorded a large number of historical phonetic data of Nanjing dialect in the mid and late Ming Dynasty, large numbers of words and exegetical materials, of which the most important are the annotations of the Nanjing dialect, which provide rich data for the study of the social economy and culture of the mid and late Ming Dynasty, and have fairly high historic valuation in the study of the history of the Chinese language.
