论沙博里《水浒传》英译本中言内意义的翻译

汉英两种语言千差万别，在社会符号学所划分的语言符号的三类意义中，言内意义的可译度相对较低。文章分别从语音、词汇、句法层面，对沙博里《水浒传》英译本中言内意义的翻译进行了实例分析。结果表明：有时为了用地道的英文传达出原文的主要信息，有必要放弃一些汉语所特有的言内意义，但总体来说，通过应用各种翻译技巧及补偿手段，译文可以再现原文的言内意义，实现功能对等，达到意义相符、功能相似的社会符号学翻译标准。

On Sidney Shapiro's Translation of Linguistic Meaning in "Outlaws of the Marsh"

Due to the great differences between Chinese and English,among the three meanings of lingual signs, the linguistic meaning is the most difficult to translate. This paper analyzes Sidney Shapiro＇s translation of the linguistic meaning in his English version of ＂Shuihu Zhuan＂,＂Outlaws of Marsh＂, from phonological, lexical and syntactical level respectively. Eventually, the conclusion is drawn that occasionally it＇s essential to give up some Chinese-unique linguistic meaning so as to convey the main information in the source language with idiomatic English,but,in general,by employing various translating skills and compensating methods, a translator can reproduce most of the linguistic meaning, and achieve functional equivalence, thus meet the translation standard put forward in sociosemiotics.
