| Abstract: | Abstract With his article 'The Decline in Mortality in Ceylon and the Demographic Effects of Malaria Control', R. H. Gray has added a new contribution to the long discussion of the effects of malaria eradication on the abrupt mortality decline experienced by Ceylon immediately after World War II. He has used new information and at the same time introduced slight modifications in the statistical procedures designed to evaluate the validity of the hypothesis. However, certain aspects of his article need to be clarified; they are related to the methodology employed and to the theoretical approach used. |
