践行科学发展观，走特色发展之路

科学发展观的第一要义是发展，在目前激烈的竞争中走特色发展之路，对于新建地方应用型本科院校至关重要。办学特色是指：“人无我有、人有我优、人优我特”，具有“独特性、稳定性、发展性和优质性”的特点。在深入剖析徐州工程学院发展阶段特征及在同类院校中所处的位置的基础上，提出围绕“地方性、应用型、工程类、多学科”特点，坚持“有所为，有所不为”的学科发展战略，依托地方特点，打造区域特色品牌，在服务地方经济社会中走出一条特色办学之路。

Implementing Scientific Development View, Pursuing Characteristic Development Road

As development is the primary task prescribed by scientific development view, it is crucially important on the part of newly-built application-oriented undergraduate universities to pursue a characteristic development road in a fierce competitive environment. The characteristics in university-running denote “own what others don＇t own, excel in what others own, specialize in what others excel”, and are characterized by “particularity, stability, developmental capability, and good quality”. On the basis of a good analysis of the characteristics of the developmental stage of Xuzhou Institute of Technology and of the place it enjoys among universities with similar situation, this paper proposes a characteristic development road, which centers round the “local, application-oriented, engineering, and multidisciplinary” characteristics, sticks to the disciplinary developmental strategy of “do what ought to be done, and don＇t do what ought not to be done”, and is dedicated to forge featured local brand by taking advantage of local features.
