Abstract: | The author analyzes emigration from Moscow by Russian Jews using official data for the period 1989-1991 including the 1989 census. Reasons for emigration include low standards of living, unemployment, and economic and political instability. Consideration is given to the prospects for future emigration, both of Jews and other ethnic groups, and the author predicts an increase in the levels of such migration. |
