Cultural Background of "Letting a Hundred Schools of Thought Contend" in the Period of Pre-Qin

To explore the source of Chinese culture, "Masters' culture" is the most important part. It has been in urgent need of gaining a clear idea of culture background which backed "masters' culture" in the period of pre-Qin, especially when it has been regarded as an indispensable cultural source of world culture. Summing up the research achievements undertook by the predecessors, this essay abandons monolithic thinking and takes pluralism and further by way of comparative culture proposes some new concepts of noble culture, bureaucratic culture, conqueror culture and culture of the one being conquered. Therefore, this essay offers a new approach to the problem.
