| Abstract: | The historical development of the English language shows that English is a heavy borrower;it has adopted words from almost every known language,especially from Latin,French and Greek.The paper illustrates how the English language borrows words from other languages and how foreign languages affect the English language in pronunciation,word-formation,semantics and grammar. |
