| 摘 要： | 美国对菲律宾的占领和统治深受当时美国社会流行的"文明意识形态"的影响。根据这种文明意识形态,菲律宾人是"半文明"人,需要接受先进的文明;占领菲律宾是"扩张文明"的行为,而非帝国主义掠夺。这种文明意识形态还导致美国在菲律宾推行"文明化"和"美国化"的政策,采取与英、荷、法等国不同的殖民方式去统治菲律宾,并因此为菲律宾后来的独立打下了基础。

| Abstract: | The U.S.occupation of the Philippines was deeply influenced by the "ideology of civilization"prevailing in American Society during that period.According to this ideology,the Filipinos were semi civilized people who needed to be civilized by a superior civilization,and it was not an imperialistic behavior but the"expansion of civilization"for U.S government to take the Philippine Islands.This"ideology of civilization"also led to a policy of civilizing and Americanizing Filipinos and a new type of colonial rules different from those of Britain,Holland and France.To some extent,it paved the way for the final independence of the Philippines. |
