| 摘 要： | 民族性是比较教育研究中的一个十分重要的概念,但对它的识别与建构则一直存有颇多争议.霍姆斯提出并阐述了体现一个民族特性的"精神状态"概念,并将社会学理论作为构建一个国家的"精神状态"即民族性的工具,这在一定程度上促进了比较教育的科学客观的研究,对比较教育学科建设作出了贡献.

| Abstract: | National Character is a very important concept with continual controversy in theresearch on compara- tive education. Holmes has developed and expounded the notion of "mental state" reflecting national character, while taking sociological theory as a tool to mold national character. He has promoted the scienctific and objec- tive research in comparative education, thus making contribution to the construction of comparative education as a discipline. |
