“另一个中国”的敞开——大众媒体的西部行记(1935—1937)

从1934年年底开始,向西南和西北进行的红军长征和剿匪,作为一对互动事件,不断吸引大众媒体的报道,把它们对剿匪的兴趣,引向中国西部;也使1928年之后媒体对江西剿赤匪的关注,与九一八事变以来因开发西北而不断升温的、对西部中国的关心两者合流。范长江和他所属的《大公报》及周边媒体的西部行记,美国记者埃德加.斯诺《西行漫记》等作品,向全国读者敞开了与东部中国有别的西部中国,与白色中国相对的红色中国,这两个意味不同、但又相互关联的另一个中国。西部中国与红色中国,从空间与时间、过去与未来多个维度,预告了全面抗战爆发后大西迁所塑造的民族共同体经验,既彰显着中国现代化进程所遭遇的迷茫与困境,又昭示了那些期冀和梦想。
