英语名词短语修饰语的认知分析

英语名词短语是语言表达中极为重要的一部分。名词短语作为语言表达式的一个断面，它的中心语与其修饰语之间是中心信息与边缘信息的关系。修饰语的产生是人类在联想思维的作用下，根据中心信息，对相关信息进行不同程度激活的结果，激活的程度和方式决定了修饰语所处的位置。随着认知方式的变化，前置修饰语和后置修饰语之间是可以相互转换的。

Cognitive Analysis of Modifiers of English Noun Phrases

Noun phrases as well as its modifiers play an important role in English expressions. This paper probes into the semantic relationship between noun phrases and its modifiers, based on center- periphery schema and figure-ground theory. It is argued in this paper that the head noun and its modi- fiers represent center and periphery status of information activated by human association, and pre- modifiers and post-modifiers can be interchangeable along with the adjustments of human cognition.
