| 摘 要： | 西方语言学界一直把交替现象看作是动词和动词论元中的一个突出的句法行为。作格交替归入到因素交替(diathesis alternation)范畴下,因素交替是指动词论元的交替。作者从作格动词的语义特征角度分析英语动词作格交替的条件,验证了状态变化和非施事性是作格交替动词的必要语义特征这一观点。同时也证明了它们并不是决定动词能否参与作格交替的充分条件。因此,一个动词参与作格交替还需要满足第三个语义限制:初始动因(onset-causation)。

| Abstract: | The paper focuses on the semantic properties of English ergative pairs to illustrate the conditions for the English ergative alternation.Because the view is held that change of state and non-agentivity are essential semantic properties for the alternability,it is argued that they are not sufficient conditions for the verb to allow ergative alternation.It is proposed that a verb that can participate in ergative alternation meet another semantic constraint: onset-causation. |
