简论我国英汉词典英美国俗术语译名准确性问题

本文论述英美国俗术语译名的准确性问题。作者通过实例描述了我国颇具代表性的英汉词典在此方面存在的六个问题 :对术语内涵本质把握不当 ,概念肢解 ,词义偏移 ,词义扩大 ,对英语原文词典某些释义方式的缺陷缺乏足够认识 ,对英语原文词典释义错误缺少警惕。文中对所涉及的英美国俗术语提出了修正译名 ,其重要结论是 :综观多种英语原义词典释义 ,取其精 ,择其优 ,舍其错 ,是保证国俗术语译名准确性的途径

On the Fidelity of the Chinese Translation of Some Anglo-American Terms in the English-Chinese Dictionary

This article discusses the accuracy in translating some Anglo American terms into Chinese. It describes, with examples, the six problems found in our influential English Chinese Dictionary: improper understanding of the nature of the terms; dismembering of the definition; deviating of the sense; extending of the meaning; insufficient awareness of some weaknesses in the explanation; and without avoiding certain shortcomings in English English explanation. It also gives its correct translations of those Anglo American terms discussed in this paper. Finally, it brings about a key conclusion, that is, to ensure the fidelity in translating the target terms. It is wise for us to have a general study of different English English Dictionary, take its proficient explanation, select the superior ones, and try to avoid the wrong ones.
