左宗棠与甘肃水利建设

左宗棠是中国历史上对甘肃水利进行系统建设的第一人。在甘肃的十余年中,他对兴修水利极为重视,认为水利是推行屯田的基础、振兴经济的关键、养民安民的根本,并对甘肃兴办水利灌溉的类型和兴工方式,逐一进行了探索和实践,取得了显著的成效,使这一时期成为甘肃水利建设中力度最大、范围最广、成效最多的时期。研究、总结左宗棠开发、建设甘肃水利的经验和教训,对今天搞好西部大开发具有重要的借鉴意义。

Zuo Zongtang and Irrigation Construction of Gansu

Regarded as the first person to conduct systematic irrigation construction in Gansu in history, Zuo Zongtang paid great attention to irrigation, thought irrigation was the base of troops' cultivation of wasteland, the key to economic prosperity, life improvement of the people and stability of society; achieved a lot in the exploit and practice of irrigation types and modes; and the times of his is regarded as the prime time for irrigation construction in terms of degree, range and effectiveness. It is greatly important for the West Region Development to sum up the success and lessons of his irrigation practice in Gansu.
