| 摘 要： | 德莱塞作品的重要意义不仅在于作家真实地描绘了一个物欲横流的现实图景,尤为重要的是,德莱塞对价值判断与信仰判断的前瞻性探索唤醒了人们对博爱、美与知识等人类最高价值的关注与追求,并在现代话语中得到了理论上的阐释。另一方面,在探索美国社会中起重要作用的社会力量的过程中,德莱塞把握住了成功的模式、社会变化的模式,从而为我们洞悉工业化语境下"梦想成真"的机会与途径开辟了一条捷径。
