摘    要:《印度之行》作为爱德华·摩根·福斯特的最后一部小说,在文学领域中占据重要位置。小说的艺术魅力主要源自它独特的创作技巧,即扩展意象。作品通过小黄蜂和水两种意象物的阐释来揭示当时印度社会环境中不同的民族心理和文化心态所造成的人与人、人与自然及人与社会等问题上的不安与困惑,并以此唤起读者对人生哲学的深沉思索。

Abstract:As the last novel of Edward Morgan Forster,A Passage to India occupies an important position in the fields of English literature. The appeal of this novel stems from its original use of various techniques such as the expanding symbols. This paper attempts to elaborate on the novel’s theme and its significance by analyzing the two typical symbols wasp and water. It intends to provide necessary clues for the readers to appreciate the novel.
