辛亥革命时期，东南亚的许多华人秘密会党领袖不仅像美洲洪门组织那样捐款捐物，开展革命宣传，而且有许多会党人士回国参加革命起义，并为起义失败后逃亡东南亚的革命志士寻找出路。不管东南亚华人秘密会党的宗旨、目标经历了怎样的变化，也不管东南亚华人秘密会党是否曾经以推翻满清政府为志职，当中国革命爆发，东南亚华人秘密会党的母体组织——天地会被广泛地宣传为具有民族主义精神的反清先锋的时候，东南亚华人秘密会党都会受到一定程度的影响，把推翻清朝统治作为自己的追求和信念。

The Function of Chinese Secret Societies in Southeast Asia during the Xinhai

It was because of the geographical advantages of southeast Asia and the natural relationship be- tween the Chinese secret societies in southeast Asia and those in south China that these Chinese secret societies played an active role during the Xinhai Revolution(the capitalist democratic revolution led by SUN Yi -- xian). When the revolution broke out, these Chinese secret societies took the overturn of the rule of Qing Dynasty as their own pursuit and belief regardless of their different purposes.
