余英时历史哲学思想钩玄勒要

余英时,当代海外新儒学代表之一。余通史、通儒,喜论中国文化史之短长,其著述偏重于＂窄而深＂的史学专论。余对起于＂五四＂运动并延宕至今的片面强调科学作用的思潮颇不以为然,认为当代中国片面地以科学为尊,而忽略了人文之德。由此,他提倡一种轻＂天道＂重＂人道＂的人文史观。其游学美国多年,智识背景及思想观点与大陆学者迥异,但这并不妨碍人们以＂求同存异＂之眼观其文化史观之大略。

Yu Ying-shih's historical philosophy

Yu Ying-shih,a well-known Confucianist in the contemporary world,is immersed in both history and Confucianism,and likes to comment on the cultural history of China.He criticizes the unilateral emphasis on the role of science as of the May 4th Movement,proposing that there＇s anunhealthy tendency in modern China of giving too much attention to science while neglecting humanities.Therefore,he advocates a humanistic view of history that stresses humanism more than exploration into nature.The fact that Yu Ying-shih differs much from scholars in the mainland in both background and views does not prevent us from understanding his views on cultural history.
