Exploration of the Differences Between Western and Chinese Concept of Privacy and Their Causes

Due to the different backgrounds of Western and Chinese culture, Westerners and Chinese hold varied values resulting in different understanding of the meaning and scope of privacy, as well as the awareness of protecting it, which inevitably causes conflict in international exchanges. Based on the different cultural origins of Western and Chinese values, this paper makes an in-depth study on the root of Western and Chinese privacy concept in expectation of promoting the mutual understanding between the West and China and enhancing smooth international exchanges.
