| Abstract: | The notional passive sentence, being a special kind of sentence pattern, has a wide use in both English and Chinese. The paper makes a comparison and contrast between the passive sentences used in English and Chinese in the aspects of the formal meaning after transform, the existence of the agent, the structural features and so on. |
