在正项-中项-异项的动力性关系中,中项处于两头受压的位置。正项对中项的压力是受其维系自身地位的要求驱动的,其压力大小与文化的宽容性相关。异项对中项的压力来自于亚文化自身翻转的要求,也来源于艺术对自身标出性的追求。在文化的不同层面上,中项的受压情况是不同的。正项、中项、异项之间复杂的张力关系影响着文化的发展趋势。
