China on the Atlas and the Chinese Territory in the History: Inspiration from Preface of The Chinese Historical Atlas and The History of China and the Chinese Territory

Mr. Tan Qixiang, an outstanding historical geologist in China, is one of the major founding fathers in historical geography. Since the 1950s, he spent 30 years in the presiding over the drawing of The Chinese Historical Atlas, which enjoyed a high reputation in the domestic and foreign academic circles for its complete contents and accurate rendering. In the treatment of the national relationship and the Chinese and foreign relations in the history and the border issues, he always insists on drawing a conclusion which is beneficial to national unity under the premise of respecting historical facts. The relationship principles he conducted among the historical China, the dynasties in the plain China, the border regime, the minority regime, the local government and the autonomous regions are instructive in the researches on the Chinese history, the ethnic history, the relationship history between China and foreign countries, Chinese history and geography of administrative zones.
