全祖望、钱大昕所著万斯同“传”纠误

全祖望和钱大听都是著名的史学家，他们各自所著的万斯同《传》，影响很大，然而都有不同程度的错误。全祖望所作《万贞文先生传》，对万氏在京修史时间及其修史的佚事，颇有失误。钱大听的《万先生斯同传》，除对万氏半年重复方苞之误外，文中所述万氏主立史表的言论和建文帝自焚的书法问题，其实都是把王鸿绪《史例议》中的现点，误嫁于万斯同。由此可知，治史之难，治史必须慎之又慎。

SOME ERROR CORRECTIONS OF THE TWO BIOGRAPHIES OF WAN SHITONG WRITTEN RESPECTIVELY BY QUAN ZHUHUANG ASD JIAN DAXING

Quan Zhuhuang and Jian Daxing were both well-known historians.The two biographies of Wan Shitong written by them respectively have been gueatly influential.However ,there exist different degrees of mistakes in these two works.In the BIOGRAPHY OF WAN by Quan,the are certain mistaken accounts of the time when Wan was engaged in the study of history in Beijing and some of his anecdotes .In his BIOGRAPHY OF WAN,Qian ,apart from repeating Fang Bao's mistake of Wan's deathe year,narrates Wan's statements conceming his proposal for the establishment of annals and relates King Jian Wen's calligraphy.Actualy,he mistakes Wang Hongxu's viewpoints in A DISCUSSION OF HISTORICAL STORIES for wa's. Evidence mentioned above tells us that it is not easy to pursue historical studies and therefore it is necessary to be very careful about it.
