| Abstract: | In discourse analysis, the theory of the context of situation emphasizes the role of the participants' information and the preceding events (context ) in interpreting a speech. act. Based on the framework of Firth's: context of situation, this article brings into relation several contextual elements and their applications in the process of English-Chinese translation. |
