境生象外:中国艺术的审美追求

摘    要:"境生象外"是对"意境"这一美学范畴的最本质的概括."境生象外"由三个层次构成:言外之意,是"境生象外"的第一个层次,它主要表现在语言艺术--文学中,追求韵味无穷,崇尚"无言之美";"以形写神",是"境生象外"的第二个层次,它主要表现在绘画艺术特别是人物画中,强调人物的神气和生命,追求"虚处藏神";"以实出虚",是"境生象外"的第三个层次,它主要表现在中国古典园林艺术中,追求的是空间之美.

Abstract:Jing" coming from exterior of "Xing" is the most essential summary of the esthetic category "Yi Jing". It is made up of three layers below: meaning beyond words, using appearance to write spirit, and using reality to display void. Meaning beyond words, the first layer, manifests itself mainly in language art-literature, pursuing lingering charm endlessly, advocating "untold beauty in words". Using appearance to write spirit, the second layer, shows itself in painting, especially figure painting, emphasizing figure's airs and life, pursuing "hiding spirit in void". Using reality to display void, the third layer, is expressed in Chinese classical art of gardens, pursing the beauty of space.
