Valignano and the Third Spreading of the Catholicism in China

Alessandro Valignano, applied Jesuit's thought of adaptation into the Far-east missionary activities. In programming and organizing Jesuit missions in China, he encouraged the missionaries to learn Chinese language and study Chinese culture. He also set up the Saint Paul's College of Macao and compiled Christian doctrines in Chinese. All these activities pushed the missions of spreading Catholicism in China to a new stage, which objectively, made a great contribution to the exchange of China and western countries.
