| Abstract: | Belief in humanoid god and ghost is one of the important beliefs in god and ghost in ancient China.Both the official and the folks in Shinan Prefecture in the Qing Dynasty had different humanoid god and ghost belief systems. The official belief more reflects the tensional and antagonistic relationship between nationalities, while the folk belief reflects more about the appeal to harmony and development. Under certain conditions, the humanoid god and ghost belief in two different systems may be modified and accepted by each other, generating complex interactive relationship. Investigating relationship between nationalities from the humanoid god and ghost belief is also helpful for reevaluating traditional subject of political history from a new perspective. |
