| Abstract: | This paper has discussed the new role and properties of the imperial examination and officil promotion starting from office workers and the corresponding differentiation and regulation of other official elections through bureaucrat paths in the Tang Dynasty and the background of related changes since the Han Dynasty which is an exhibition of the transition of civil official promotion system and its profound influence between the two dynasties. It has revealed practical structural relationships between the different civil official promotion systems in ancient China and provided a new analytical frame for related research in this field. |
