郑玄校《仪礼》从古文本字不从今文通假字考

郑玄在给《仪礼》作注时兼采今古文的一条重要原则,就是从本字不从通假字:有从今文本字而不从古文通假字者,亦有从古文本字而不从今文通假字者,因为本字更能贴切地表达经义。遍索《仪礼》中郑玄从古文本字不从今文通假字之例凡36条,一一考辨之。

Zheng Xuan's editing" Ceremonies and Rituals" with original character instead of interchangeable character

There were two kinds of “Ceremonies and Rituals" in the Han Dynasty. When annotating “Ceremonies and Rituals", Zheng Xuan adopted the Modern-Script Ceremonies and Rituals somewhere or the Ancient-Script Ceremonies and Rituals elsewhere by collating the difference in characters between them. An important principle Zheng Xuan followed in the course was to adopt the original character instead of the interchangeable character: adopt the original character in the Modern-Script Ceremonies and Rituals instead of the interchangeable character in the Ancient-Script Ceremonies and Rituals somewhere, or the original character in the Ancient-Script Ceremonies and Rituals instead of the interchangeable character in the Modern-Script Ceremonies and Rituals, for the original character more aptly expounded the true meanings of classics.
