A Review of Matsuo Bashos Ideological Change under the Influence of Chuang Tzu

Basho commented on Chuang Tzu as “Chuang Tzu’s spirit in his soul, poetic taste in his mind” in Mourning for MatsukuraRanran. It became an evidence of the influence of Chuang Tzu on the his ideological change. Based on diachronical dimension and detailed view, the paper provides an in-depth investigation on the fundamental characteristics of Basho under Chuang Tzu’s influence. By effectively combining the ontology of Chuang Tzu’s Philosophy of the Mind and penetrating into Basho’s thought, it adopts a progressive manner based on philosophical speculation to explore the mental change of Basho after Chuang Tzu’s gene had become part of his mind and the influence on his literary creations. The paper is expected to further expand the argumentation of study on Basho, and produce some breakthroughs in the study of Basho’s ideology from the perspective of the Philosophy of the Mind
