| Abstract: | This paper extracts the keywords and 5-word key clusters from two corpora including fiction texts by Henry James and nineteenth-century American writers respectively after comparing them. It shows that James James is more adept at using verbal action verbs, mental verbs, reinforcement words, “seem” words, “body parts”, “speech”, “negatives” and “It / There” clusters to describe and portray the characters and events than other American writers of the same period. |
